Patient Success Stories

Jose Esquibel

Before a terrible bout with the flu, Jose Esquibel lived a fulfilling and independent life. When he wasn't working, Jose loved to take his two-year-old son to the park near their home. But when Jose contracted influenza A, he developed superimposed bacterial pneumonia, which led to an extensive hospital stay.

Gary Sweeden

An acute pontine stroke led Gary Sweeden to Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Denver. The stroke caused right hemiparesis, or weakness affecting one side of the body. From the day of his admission, it was clear that Gary faced a long journey ahead.

Warren

After a right cerebellar stroke and cerebral aneurysm, Warren experienced balance, vision, and swallowing impairments. These impairments affected his ability to perform basic day-to-day tasks safely and independently. When looking straight ahead while walking, Warren experienced extreme dizziness. Paired with changes to his balance, Warren relied on a walker to ambulate.

Alex Velasquez-Bahena

When you're 22 years old, you never expect to have a stroke. But for Alex Velasquez-Bahena, that would be reality.

Robin Russell

While Robin was fighting worsening symptoms from COVID-19, he also faced challenges outside his recovery. As he was in the hospital, Robin lost his home and nearly all his belongings in the Boulder County Fires.

Kevin Miller

Kevin Miller led an active lifestyle before contracting COVID-19. He came to Vibra to work on his activities of daily living so he could get back to the life he loved.
